Emergency Plumber in Lake Stevens, WA
Lake Stevens went from a small lake town to one of the fastest-growing cities in the county. Pyper Plumbing is here for the plumbing problems that come with all those new and newer homes.
If you have driven around Lake Stevens lately, you have seen the growth. The population went from about 6,400 in 2000 to over 35,000 in 2020, helped by large annexations in 2006 and 2009. It is now Snohomish County's sixth-largest city, and around three out of four households own their home.
New neighborhoods do not mean plumbing never breaks. Water heaters, fixtures and supply lines all wear out on their own schedules. Pyper Plumbing handles emergency repairs 24/7, so a Sunday-night leak does not have to ruin your week.

Plumbing in Lake Stevens: what to know
Water that started at Spada Lake
Tap water in Lake Stevens comes from the Snohomish County PUD, which draws from the City of Everett system at Spada Lake and Lake Chaplain. The PUD also adds groundwater from wells near Lake Stevens, treated to match. That means you are not drinking lake water from the lake you can see. Treated mountain water is gentle on pipes, but the fixtures inside your home still collect wear, so dripping valves and failing supply lines are normal wear.
A sewer district with a long history
The Lake Stevens Sewer District was set up in 1957 and runs the city's sewer system. It built a new 100 million dollar treatment plant in 2013, and the district is planned to merge into the city by 2032. For you, that means your sewer bill and your sewer line sit in a separate world from your water. If a backup happens, we help determine whether the trouble is in your home lateral or in the main.
The lake, and the homes around it
Lake Stevens covers about 1,040 acres, with roughly 7.1 miles of heavily developed shoreline. The lake began as a resort community after the Rucker mill closed in 1925, and later became a commuter town in the 1960s and 70s. Older lakeside cabins and remodeled homes often mix old and new plumbing. Mixed piping, add-on bathrooms and long supply runs can all cause leaks or weak pressure.
Frozen pipes at local schools
Lake Stevens sits on a plateau between the Snohomish River delta and the Cascade foothills. In January 2024, Glenwood and Skyline elementary schools had burst pipes and closed for a day. The district said the cold likely hit pipes near or inside exterior walls. Homes face the same weak spots, especially in garages, crawlspaces and outside walls. Know where your main shutoff is before the next freeze.

Lake Stevens plumbing questions
Who provides water and sewer in Lake Stevens?
Tap water comes from the Snohomish County PUD, whose supply traces back to Everett's system at Spada Lake and Lake Chaplain, plus some local wells. Sewer is handled by the Lake Stevens Sewer District. Your bill will show who to contact for each.
I live near the lake. Is my plumbing different?
Not in a big way, but lakeside homes are often older, remodeled or added onto over the years. That can mean mixed pipe types and long runs. If you see low pressure or repeated leaks, a plumber can check the lines.
How do I avoid frozen pipes in Lake Stevens?
Let faucets drip on very cold nights, open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls, and disconnect hoses. Know where your main shutoff is. If a pipe freezes or bursts, shut off the water and call us.
