Home Emergency plumbing Major leaks and flooding
Major leak or flooding? Shut it off, then call us.
Active water damage gets worse by the minute. Stop the supply, stay safe around electricity, and let us find and fix the source.
What is happening
When water is pouring from a pipe, fitting, supply line or appliance connection, every minute adds damage to floors, drywall and belongings. The faster the water is stopped and the area dried, the better your odds of avoiding mold and a bigger repair.
Do this right now
- Shut off the main water valve
- Turn off electricity to the flooded area only if you can reach the panel safely and are not standing in water
- Move valuables and furniture out of the wet area
- Mop up or use towels to slow spread, then run fans
- Document damage with photos and call us
The Pyper way
How Pyper handles it
We stop the leak, trace it to its true source, and check whether the cause was a failed part, high pressure or worn pipe. We repair or replace the failed section with the right materials, pressure-test it, and tell you what to watch for as the area dries.
Contain it
We make sure the water is off and identify whether the source is a supply line, fixture, appliance connection or a pipe in a wall.
Find the exact spot
Leaks often show up far from where they start, so we trace the water back to the source.
Repair and test
The damaged pipe or part is replaced, then the system is pressure tested before we leave.
Next steps
We tell you what to dry out and what to show your insurer.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Walking through standing water near outlets or appliances
- Leaving the main on while you hunt for the source
- Ignoring a slow leak because it is small, since it can rot framing and grow mold
- Drying the surface and skipping the repair
Questions we hear
How do I know if a leak is inside the walls?
Watch for damp spots, stains, a musty smell, warm spots on a floor, or a water meter that moves with everything off. A plumber can locate a hidden leak without tearing out large sections.
How do I test for a hidden leak myself?
Turn off every fixture, then check your water meter. If the dial or leak indicator keeps moving, water is escaping somewhere. Our hidden leak guide shows the steps.
Should I turn off the electricity?
If water is near outlets, panels or appliances, stay out of it. Only switch off power at the panel if you can reach it from a dry spot. Otherwise call your utility or 911.
